EDITORS NOTE: The people in America are literally losing their minds. With all of the drugs, violent entertainment, emotionally and spiritually abusive psychopaths roaming the streets – it is causing a violent atmosphere where murder and suicide is the acceptable way out of the World.
It is our duty to spread the Gospel of Christ and reach people before they get to the point of murdering someone or hurting themselves.
Proverbs 28:2 – For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.
CHICAGO – More than 1,000 people have been shot in Chicago so far this year, and the city has had nearly 200 murders, but Police Supt. Eddie Johnson said he saw some good news in April’s crime statistics.
According to the Chicago Police Department, shootings were down 13 percent for the first four months of the year, compared to the same time in 2016.
“The shooting incidents are down a little bit over 100 from the same time last year, so that’s some encouraging sign…”
While shootings were down, murders in April were up compared to last year. In April 2016, there were 36 murders in Chicago. There were 45 murders in April 2017. READ MORE
BALTIMORE – Baltimore’s mayor is asking for help from the FBI as the city struggles to contain a soaring murder rate. But will bringing in the feds stop the killings?
Catherine Pugh pulled no punches earlier this week when she said the violence is out of control.
“I’m calling on all the assistance we can possibly get because I can’t imagine going into our summer months with our crime rate where it is today, what that’s going to look like by the end of the summer,” Mayor Pugh said. “… Murder is out of control.” READ MORE
NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD says murders in the first quarter of this year were up 70% compared to the same time last year. There were 30 homicides in the first three months of 2016 compared to 51 this year.
“We did see an increase in violent crime, namely homicides and shootings. What we can say is the majority of those shootings are persons who know one another. The majority of the homicides are going to be persons who know one another,” said NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison.
Harrison spoke to the City Council’s Criminal Justice Committee on Thursday. He says drugs are contributing to the violence.
“This heroin and opioid epidemic is fueling a lot of it, but not all of it. But certainly it is the core of it, and we’re doing everything we can with our state and federal partners to attack it as aggressively as we can,” said Harrison. READ MORE
MEMPHIS – “It’s like the O.K. Corral out there,” said Royal Chatman, an anti-violence advocate who fears deaths like Pugh’s may continue in an accelerated pattern despite encouraging data showing the number of murders fell in the first three months of this year compared to the same period in 2016.
“I just had three students shot last week: One on Monday. One on Wednesday. One on Thursday,” said Chatman, who mentors at-risk youth. At least one of those young men died, he said. “We need to turn this around.”
Although Memphis’s sharp uptick in homicides in 2016 has received widespread attention, the impact is only now coming into focus: Still incomplete data indicates Memphis’ murder rate last year was the worst in 23 years, reaching a level not seen since the crack cocaine epidemic of the 1990s.
